Parish Updates as of 2-26-2021
SUNDAY LIVE READINGS AND REFLECTION
Call in at 11 am. Fr. Blane will share the reflection.
Please remember to mute your phone.
PRAYER INTENTIONS
You may submit your prayer requests to the OLBS office during office hours or via email.
Fr. Blane will have a private liturgy and offer up those prayer intentions at that time. He will also include prayers in general for our parishioners and all those globally affected by the COVID-19 Virus through illness and death.
TITHE/GOOD STEWARDSHIP
Catholic Extension has given a special gift to the Diocese of Gallup and all its parishes and schools. Access for all the Diocese of Gallup entities is through the same portal on the #igiveCatholic site: together.igivecatholic.org/info/gallup Select Parish, and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament from the drop down list under Organization Name.
The Faith in Action Appeal is also available on that same site.
"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Pt 4:10).
What identifies a steward? Safeguarding material and human resources and using them responsibly are one answer; so is generous giving of time, talent, and treasure. But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)
Your weekly Sunday Collection (tithe/treasure) can be dropped off at the times listed above. Please feel free to mail in any prayer requests or donations also.
SACRAMENTS
Baptisms
Recommendation for infants/newborn: the parents come to the church with the child at an established time. They walk immediately to the baptismal font where the priest is waiting. He baptizes the child, and the family immediately returns home.
Confirmations and RCIA Members
Confirmations are not to be celebrated until further notice. Catechumens and Candidates for full initiation will be brought into the Church at a later time.
Weddings
It is strongly advised that celebrations of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony should be postponed until it is safe to resume large gatherings of people. If the ceremony must proceed, the number of persons present cannot exceed 10.
Holy Eucharist
Public Masses are still suspended. Distribution of Holy Communion is suspended, including for the home bound. Viaticum for the dying is the only exception.
Anointing of the Sick, Last Rites
Anointing of the sick for homebound and hospitalized is encouraged, especially those in danger of death.
Reconciliation
Please call the parish office to make individual arrangements.
Funerals
Grave Side services ONLY. Please call the parish office for further information.
RESOURCES
The Word Among Us and Living Faith booklets are available on the top landing inside parish office door. Please pick them up during office hours listed above or call office to request them so parish staff is available to provide these resources.
Parish calendars for 2021 are also available on top landing.
Please continue to pray for those afflicted with the virus. May they be restored to health soon. We also continue to pray that they may find an effective vaccine and solution to this epidemic and to restore harmony and peace to our communities.
